Family is something that we care about deeply. It is our greatest desire to be able to minister to you and with you for the advancement of the Gospel of our awesome Savior and King, Jesus Christ.
We believe that family is an important and integral part of the function of the church and the completion of God’s kingdom. Even more importantly, we believe that all of the components of family, gender roles, marriage, and parenting are designed to reflect the greatness and glory of God.
At the same time, there is no doubt that family is under attack in our world today and the church of Jesus Christ definitely has its work cut out for it. The church today must rise up and minister to families so that they can successfully weather the storm of opposition against it.
Thus, Glory of Christ Fellowship would love the opportunity to minister to your family by helping you apply the living hope of the Gospel of Jesus in your home. We believe that as homes become more and more grounded in the truth of God’s word there will be greater effectiveness in making disciples for the glory of Jesus Christ!
May God be with us and grant us much needed grace. Our homes are the hardest place to be a Christian and probably the most crucial!
We believe that Family is the very first human institution that God has established. Because God created humans to reflect him and carry out his purposes among the earth we believe that God designed family to be the first vehicle to accomplish God’s purposes in the earth.
Even though the word family is not used in Genesis 1:27-28 the idea certainly is. Upon closer look, there are three main components of family that GCF will seek to develop in order to strengthen homes to be contexts that further the Gospel and makes disciples.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
The mission statement that we use is designed to clarify our objective. The vision statement is designed to capture what we envision happening as we engage in the mission of the church.
The mission statement of Glory of Christ fellowship is to “Make disciples of all Nations.” The essence of this mission statement is adapted to the specific sphere of Family Discipleship:
The purpose in uniting church and home in making disciples is owing to the fact that both church and home are family contexts and therefore both have a unique part in making disciples. We feel that the more home and church are on the same page, the more fruitful we will become! Parents have an extremely important role in implementing the mission of Family Discipleship in their home life.
So as we engage in the mission to make disciples we envision the context of the church and the context of the home functioning as a family of God in which disciples are effectively raised. May God grant us success!
The mission of Family Discipleship is to unite church and home to make disciples. The conviction for this flows out of the clear teaching in the Bible that the church is also a family, the family of God. Thus, both home and church are families that have a role in making disciples. Here are the ways that we see the church, the family of God balancing out the role of the home in discipleship:
